Wren AI Is Now Available in Microsoft Teams

Most data questions never reach a BI tool. They get asked in a Teams thread, and someone on the data team answers them by hand, again, in a slightly different way than last time.

Wren AI is now available in Microsoft Teams, listed on Microsoft Marketplace. Business teams ask questions in plain language inside a chat or channel and get answers back in-thread, with the generated SQL and a chart alongside them.

The point is not another place to ask. It is that every place asks the same layer.

A question asked in Teams resolves against the same context model as a question asked by an agent over MCP, or by an analyst in the Wren AI UI. One definition of revenue, one set of joins, one enforcement path.

What that means in practice

Context you own. Definitions live in a context model stored as files in your git repo, versioned and reviewed like code. Change a metric in a pull request and the next question in Teams uses the new definition.

Query in place. Wren AI plans SQL against your existing sources, 20+ of them across Postgres, BigQuery, Snowflake, Databricks, and others. Nothing has to be moved or landed in a single warehouse first.

Governed at execution. Row and column level security applies at query time to the authenticated person asking. Every answer carries a trace: who asked, what the question resolved to, and the SQL that ran.

Model autonomy. Bring your own model. Swapping models does not change what your metrics mean, because meaning lives in the context layer rather than in a prompt.

For the data team, nothing new needs governing. The context model you already maintain is what Teams is asking. For business teams, there is no tool to learn beyond the chat window they are already in.

Availability

Wren AI core is open source, which means the context layer holding your definitions is inspectable and self-hostable. The Teams integration is part of the Wren AI commercial plans, on Cloud or self-hosted, and is installed from Microsoft Marketplace.
